What is Okta?
Okta is a single, integrated platform that offers secure access to enterprise applications and information. It connects any person, via any device, in any context, to the technologies that they need to do their most significant work.
With Okta you’ll have:
- All your apps, only one password: Enter just one username and one password, and you will instantly have access to all your applications.
- Easy access from anywhere: Your Okta homepage is available anywhere – whether you’re in a school, Room 9, working remotely, and even on mobile devices.
- A customized experience: You can arrange the apps on your Okta dashboard anyway you want to. Tabs and a search bar will help keep you organized!

Why do I have to input my password for some apps and not others?
For applications that already use your Windows username and password for login (e.g. Outlook Online, PowerSchool), Okta is able to pass that information directly to the application.
For applications that do not use your Windows credentials, Okta needs you to provide that login information the first time that you launch the app. Okta will then securely store this information so that you will never be prompted again.
What is the process when I have to input my password for some apps?
The first time that you launch a new app, you may be required to enter additional login information. Enter the required username and password necessary to log in and then click the Sign In button.
When you return to your Okta home page, you will be asked to confirm if Okta was able to sign you into your application successfully. If your login was successful, click Yes and Okta will store your credentials so you will not need to enter them again. If however, your login was unsuccessful, click No and you will be prompted to re-enter the username and password once again.
