What is a qualifying life event?
Getting married, having a baby, adopting, turning 26, or losing health coverage are life events that can make you eligible for a Special Enrollment Period that allows you to enroll in health insurance outside the yearly Open Enrollment Period.
Please note: You will only have up to 30 days from your Life Event date to make any benefits changes. If the deadline is missed, you will be required to wait until the next Open Enrollment to make changes.
To enroll in KIPP New Jersey and KIPP Miami health insurance you will be required to email the HR team at humanresources@kippteamandfamily.org to report your life change. You will also need to submit supporting documentation to verify your life change. Examples can include:
- Proof of benefits loss letter
- Birth/Adoption certificate
- Medical insurance card copy
- Marriage certificate w/seal copy
- Domestic partnership certified copy
The ‘Event Date’ should reflect the birth date of your newborn, the date of adoption, the marriage date reflected on your official marriage certificate (with seal), or the date your benefits have been terminated.
Once the HR team has received your request and supporting documentation, you will be assigned a work event to make the necessary updates to your benefits. The HR team will review your submission for approval within 24 business hours.
