All New Jersey school‐based employees are required to participate in the New Jersey Pension program (Employees of KIPP Miami are not eligible for the NJ Pension Plan).
It can take several months for the State to process your enrollment. We are unable to withhold your Pension contributions until your account is active. Once you are enrolled, you will be responsible for your contributions as well as your back contributions.
The HR Team will provide you with a copy of your pension Certification of Payroll Deductions via email, detailing your deduction schedule, back deduction amount (if applicable) and effective date, once received from the NJ Division of Pensions and Benefits.
We recommend that you set aside the 7.5% that you will eventually pay into the NJ pension into a savings account, which may help you if/when you are subject to pay back deductions.
