Timeliness for Salaried Exempt and Non-Exempt employees will be tracked in ADP using schedules and time cards. All schedules will be preloaded to the employee’s timecard based on what was assigned under Schedule Planner. The employee’s clock or punch times for the day will be captured directly on the timecard.
All employees will clock or punch in and out for the day using the “Punch” tile on their Workforce Manager homepage, the “Punch” button on the ADP My Work mobile app, or using the physical clock located inside your school (coming this fall!). Employees who work additional work assignments or overtime will also need to punch or clock in and out for these shifts.

Your Workforce Manager homepage will include a “Manage Timecards” tile that will display issues with time cards that require your review or need to be resolved. The system will automatically flag employees who punched in late or punched out early. The tile will also show employees who do not have an approved time off request and failed to punch in for the day, by flagging their shift as an “Unexcused Absence”.
Late In/Early Out
Timecards with unexcused absences, late ins, or early outs will require your review. As Managers, you have the ability to modify time cards to correct a missed punch or late in and early out. To make changes to an employee’s time card, from your WFM homepage, click the right arrow on the Manage Timecards tile > search for an employee’s name.
On the timecard, you will see a column labeled “Schedule” showing the employee’s assigned shift for the day.
To correct a missed In punch:
- Click into the specific day and in the In column, enter what time the employee reported to work and click Save. The system will automatically calculate if the time is considered a “late in”.
To correct a missed Out punch:
- Click into the specific day and in the Out column, enter what time the employee left work for the day and click Save. The system will automatically calculate if the time is considered an “early out”.
Employees can view all punches on their timecard but they cannot edit existing punches or manually add new punches.
Dataviews
You have the ability to view timeliness information about multiple employees at one time through a Dataview in ADP. Open the three lines menu located on the top left of your Workforce Manager home page > Dataviews & Reports > Dataview Library.
- On Premise Check: View which employees have already punched in for the day.
- Hours Summary: View employees’ total hours broken down by regular, overtime, time off categories.
- Exception Count by Employee: View summary of employees’ hours broken down by hours worked, late/early in/out, missed punches.
- Missed Punch Exception Count by Employee: View summary of the number of missed In/Out punch per employee.
- Pay Period Close: View all hours worked (regular and overtime), the hours taken for all time off reason codes, how many missed In punches, how many missed Out punches, shows if the timecard was approved, shows if the timecard was signed off (by HR), employee type, and employee's location + department.
Reporting
To export Schedules and Timekeeping reports from ADP, open the three lines menu located on the top left of your Workforce Manager home page > Dataviews & Reports > Report Library.
There are two reporting sections that can be used to track timeliness, Scheduler and Timekeeping. Expand each section to see a detailed list of reports and their descriptions. Most reports can be exported to PDF, XLSX, CSV, or interactive desktop format. Interactive desktop reports will open in a web browser and allow you to view a table of contents, view a specific set of data per page, and format the data set.
To run a report:
- Click Run Report.
- Expand the section and click on the report title you need to run > Select.
- Select the report criteria > Run Report.
- Wait for the report to run. A pop up window will display a message indicating the report has run successfully. These reports will appear under the “Completed” section of your Reports page.
Expand the Scheduler section to run the following reports:
- Location Schedule - Weekly: shows the assigned schedule for employees, by location, for the time frame selected.
Expand the Timekeeping section to run the following reports:
- Absent Employees: shows all employees who are absent for the time frame selected. This report can include excused and unexcused absences.
- Employee Hours by Job: shows a total of hours worked, separated by Pay Code (i.e Regular, OT, PTO, etc.), for each employee, for the time frame selected.
- Hours by Location: shows a breakdown of total hours and type of hours worked, by location/department only.
- Time Detail: shows a breakdown of total hours worked, punch times, and type of absences for each employee, for the time frame selected.
