Below are instructions on how to upgrade to Windows 11 for enhanced security features that protect against the latest threats, a modern and intuitive user interface for improved productivity, and access to the newest technologies and application compatibility.
Updates will download and install automatically. Once they have installed, you are required to restart your computer to complete the upgrade.
Preparation for Upgrade

- Please ensure your computer is connected to a power source and has a stable internet connection. Close all open applications and save your work.
- Please ensure that your computer has at least 50 GBs of free disk space before attempting to upgrade your computer.
Steps to Restart

Notification:
- You will see a notification in the bottom-right corner of your screen, informing you that a restart is required to complete the update.
Note: Click the message notification icon in the taskbar if you are unsure whether the message had popped up or not

Choosing When to Restart:
- Click on the notification to open the restart options.
- Select either “Restart now” or “Pick a time” to schedule the restart.
Please make sure your laptop is charging when applying the restart!
After the Restart

Installation Completion:
- Your computer will restart and complete the installation of Windows 11 24H2. This may take several minutes, and your computer may restart more than once during this process.

Post-Update:
- After the installation is complete, you will be brought back to your desktop.

Perform additional update checks in Windows 11 by following the below test:
- “Start” → “Settings” → “Windows Update” → click “Check for Updates”.
- You may also follow this link and click “Check for Windows update” on the Microsoft page.
