DeansList :: Family Portal - Invite Families to the Family Portal

This article contains directions for sending mass invites to families who haven't signed up for the DeansList Family Portal, which will be used for delivering Q3 (and likely Q4) report cards and to collect e-signatures on those reports.

For those families who do not receive an invite email due to spam filtering or out-of-date email addresses, there are directions for teachers to provide the information they need to create an account in the DeansList app (Google | Apple) or at deanslist.me

Step 1 - Directions for DSOs : Initial Invite via Email

Parents with valid email addresses can join the Parent/Student Portal. To invite Parents, follow these directions:

1. Log into DeansList using Okta
2. Go to Reports & Data > DeansList for Families (Family Portal)
3. Select the "Parents/Guardians" tab. 
4. Adjust the filter on the top left to show "Invitable Parents/Guardians". Click the checkbox on the top of the left column to select all families that have not signed up yet
5. Once everyone is selected, click the Invite Selected button at the top left of the page 

Families will be sent an email with a validation code and a link to set up their account. By clicking on the link, they will be brought to a page where their student's last name and validation code are automatically filled out. 

Families need to enter their full name, email address, and password and then click "Register" to complete the process.

Step 2 - Directions for Teachers & School Ops: Follow Ups for Families who did not create account via email

1. Log into DeansList using Okta
2. Click on Reports & Data > DeansList For Families Validation Codes
3. Make sure the correct school year is selected Select student(s) by roster, grade level, or individual students
4. You can then view or PDF invitation letters for all students on that roster - you can read parents the directions and code or you can email or text them that information
